Trujillo

Trujillo and its surrounding area have been inhabited for thousands of years by indigenous people such as the Cupisnique (who created beautiful ceramics), the Mocha and the Chimus (who were skilled goldsmiths and influenced the art of the Incas). Examples of each culture can be found in this area, which was then conquered by the Spaniards in 1534.

In addition to all the indigenous treasures, Trujillo is full of symbols of Spanish culture such as the beautiful Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, Archbishop's Palace, Seminary, House of Culture and the theatres. This city serves as an important economical and cultural centre for this part of Peru, and offers the tourist a mild climate and beaches in addition to all of the above.
