Iguassu Falls

The Falls

Foz do Iguassu is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world, second only to Niagara in volume, and Victoria in height.

The cataracts straddle Brazil and Argentina for nearly 3 kilometres along the Iguassu River and in the fierce cauldron of the "Garganta do Diabo" or Devil's Throat on the Brazilian side, a huge stream plunges over 80 metres down a U-shaped precipice. On the Argentine side great curtains of water fall amidst vegetation and rocky outcrops, and the combined effect is stupendous and beautiful.
