Chile

Chile is a long, narrow country stretching along South America's western edge, with over 4,000km of Pacific Ocean coastline. It extends from the Atacama desert in the north, to the granite peaks, glacier fields and pristine wilderness of Patagonia in the south, and offers untamed natural beauty in all its lakes, fjords, forests, vineyards, volanoes and snow-capped mountains. Easter Island, located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, provides visitors with an exciting experience of the unique and mysterious Rapa Nui history. The bustling capital Santiago has a dynamic city culture, which combined with the friendly hosts, fresh seafood and indigenous communities you can meet, this country does not fail to inspire awe in all of its visitors.

With our local partners, Star Travel can help you enjoy the spectacular variety Chile has to offer.

Climate

Chile’s weather is extremely diverse due the size of the country. Summer runs from December to February, and winter from June to August.  In the north there’s the dry, arid Atacama desert where temperatures reach a maximum of 32°C. Chile’s central region has a Mediterranean feel in its central region with a colder, wetter season (May to August), which turns into warmer a beach climate for the summer.

In the south it is usually cool and damp, with a very high annual rainfall. Ideal months to visit Patagonia and this region for trekking and other outdoor activities are from December to March, unless you want to ski, in which case visiting between June and August would be ideal.  Easter Island has its own humid sub-tropical temperatures.
